EPEC April meeting follow-up

I'm so happy for the great turnout for our meeting this month. Thank you all for coming. For those who couldn't make it, we got to meet some new faces, and reminisce with some familiar ones. We had some wonderful discussions, passed around useful information and got to shout about no one & nothin in particular. It was suggested, too, that we find time to meet for a picnic in the part, battle together for behavior support, and be each others PCAs...oh yeah, and we shed a tear or two.

We also got to talk by speaker phone with the folks who were visiting Montpelier in support of the implementation of Act 127. Some headway was made in blocking the repeal initiative suggested by some in the Vermont leadership (read here for more).

We're looking for topic/speaker ideas for our next meeting. Since talk of how behavior intervention is handled in the school system was brought up, I'm considering asking Armando Vilaseca (VT State Education Commissioner) if he would like to join us in July. We'll take any and all suggestions, however, as someone may have a better, more appropriate idea.

The next meeting will be July 13 from 7-8:30p.m., once again at the Rutland Mental Health Education & Wellness Center, 78 S Main Street (off Engram Ave), Rutland.

Again, thanks to all who could make it. We hope you found it informative, and that you will look forward to visiting with us again.

Thanks, Jon
